All-Ireland and National League champions Tipperary have been
honoured with six players on the first ever camogie
All-Stars team which was announced at a banquet
in the CityWest Hotel on Saturday night, December
4.
Suzanne Kelly, Una O’Dwyer,
Ciara Gaynor, Therese Brophy, Claire Grogan and
Deirdre Hughes received awards following a hugely
successful year for the Premier County. Hughes
was also chosen on the Team of the Century earlier
this year.
Defeated All-Ireland finalists
Cork have three players included - goalkeeper
Aoife Murray, midfielder Gemma O’Connor
and forward Jennifer O’Leary. National League
finalists Wexford also took three places - defenders
Aine Codd and Mary Leacy and midfielder Kate Kelly.
Mairin McAleenan from Down was
the only Ulster player to be honoured, while Ann
Marie Hayes, niece of Galway hurling manager Conor,
and Kilkenny’s Sinead Millea also picked
up awards.
The International Player of the
Year is Annette McGeeney from Roscommon and Sligo
IT, while Galway’s Sinead Gannon received
the accolade for Young Player of the Year.
