Down 2:07 Kildare 5:06

By Donna O'Connor

In the first half of the game Down Camogs proved themselves to be contendable opponents to the Kildare side. Maureen McAleenan supplied her usual talent of scoring. A point from a 45 plus 5 more and with a goal from Catherine McGourty Down were leading at half time 1:6 to 1:4.

In the second half of the game belong to Down. From a brilliant catch McGourty supplied a cheeky goal which sneeked by the goal keeper. Down at this stage were 2:8 to 1:4. ahead. A costly mistake by the Down Goalkeeper allowed Kildare to score a goal. This slight mistake was the turnaround which Kildare were looking for. They took advantage of play from this point onward. Within 5 mins the Kildare side played an excellent game driving, making and scoring points.

The final score Down 2:7 Kildare 5:6 did no justice to the Down performance but to win we need to play for the full 60mins.

Next National League game Down v Carlow Clonduff Sunday 4th April 2.30pm.
