It was an early start for the Down Camogs, as they set off to play against Roscommon at Athleague but the long journey did not take its toll as the strong Down team excelled in their performance with all 6 forwards scoring. The first point was scored by Karen Gribben who was set up by Catherine McGourty. This was then followed by further points which were swiftly taken by Cathy Mulholland, Angeline Ferron and Mairin McAleenan. At this stage of the game Cathy Mulholland scored a superb goal which did nothing but enhance the Downs Camogs state of play. Catherine McGourty and Mary Gilmore then added further scores.

Roscommon then began to fight back but the excellence of the Down's goalkeeper, Theresa McGowan, who cleared 3 consecutive attempts, provided Roscommon with no score. With mid fields Pauline Green and Debra Kelland in top performance, the Roscommon side were out matched. The score at half time was Down 4:13 to Roscommon 0:0.

It was 6 minutes into the second half before Roscommon had the opportunity of scoring for the first time and this came from Kelly Hopkins. Meave Healy of Roscommon scored a goal and a further point. Down's scores were taken in the second half by McAleenan, Ferron, Gribbin and Colleen Grant.

The Down side dominated the game from start to finish with no allowances given to the Roscommon side. Final score was Down 4:19 to Roscommon 1:2.
