Queens University Camogie Club to celebrate 70 years

The start of the 2004/05 3rd level colleges’ Camogie season next October marks the 70th year of Camogie at Queens University Belfast. It also is the start of the season when Queens play host to the Purcell Cup competition over the first weekend in February 2005 when eight colleges, including Queens, will battle out for Purcell Cup and Shield honours.

As part of the 70 years celebrations, and to coincide with the hosting of Purcell, the Queens Camogie Club intend to establish a Past Members Union and plan to host a Gala evening on the Saturday of the Purcell competition.

The Club is inviting all former members who were part of the Camogie set up at Queens, since the Camogie Clubs founding in 1934, to join the QUB Camogie Club Past Members Union and be part of the celebrations planned for the weekend of the Purcell competition in 2005.

If you are a former QUB Camogie member and want to be part of a Past Members Union and join in the celebration of 70 years of Camogie at Queens, or want more information, please leave your contact details with the Queens Camogie Club Secretary, Maria McCloskey at:

Tel: 028 9091 1002
