Down Camogie team to take on Armagh

CAMOGIE NEWS
Down play Armagh on Sunday 27th February in Ballyholland at 1pm. This is the 1st fixture in the National League. Last year Down lost 1 game in there campaign which meant that they didn't make to the play-off's. Down beat Armagh last year in the championship and went on to reach the All-Ireland finals. With many new players having joined the majority of last years players there is a good squad currently training under the new managment team and they will have a hard job selecting a team for Sunday.

The county junior team have been nominated for the Newry & Mourne Council team of the year the awards cermony will take place on Thursday 3rd March in the Canal Court Hotel.

Well done to county star Catherine McGourty on being selected on the Ashbourne All-Stars team on Sunday last the Ballycran player was part of the Jordanstown team.

Success breds success and in Down camogie this is very true this season sees a record number of teams competing in the 4 new look leagues and some teams have entered a 3rds team also the under-age competions welcome a few new teams.

Nominations are currently being sought for the Golden Cow Youth Games there are 2 venues in Down this Downpatrick & An Riocht this is a competition for girls U-15 and forms can be obtained from clubs or schools.
