Drumgath win the IFC title in style
A very strong and determined
Drumgath side easily defeated
Attical in the Down IFC final
played at Castlewellan on Sunday,
15th of October. In what turned
out to be a one-sided affair the
winners won pulling up on a
scoreline of 1-15 to 1-5.
Interestingly, prior to the final
it was Attical who were tipped to
win. On the day they just couldnt
live with Drumgath’s hunger and
desire for success.
This was a great team performance
by the Drumgath side, with special
mention being given to the
contributions of their
team-captain, Jackie Lynch, while
former county minor star, Packie
Downey led the attack very
effectively.
There was great celebrations at
the final whistle, as Jackie Lynch
collected the IFC cup on behalf of
his team.
Drumgath now meet the Fermanagh
title-holders in the opening round
of the Ulster IFC in the coming
weeks, and on this form they must
be fancied to do well in the
provincial competition.
