Ballyvarley Hurling Notes 24th April 2006

Ballyvarley’s under 14 hurlers get their league underway this week. Their first game is against Castlewellan on Wednesday 26 th April. Players are asked to be at Ballyvarley field at 6.30pm with a 7pm throw in.

The under 14 hurlers competed well in the feile last weekend, winning their games against Clonduff and Newry by eight and ten points respectively to no score. They were unlucky to lose to Kilclief in the opening game before narrowly losing by two points to Warrenpoint despite a strong overall performance. Thanks to all the parents who helped transport the boys to the Feile.

Coaching still continues every Saturday for the under 10 and 12s at 11am at St Patrick’s College Banbridge.

The Ballyvarley/Ballela joint Minor team have a bye this coming Monday ( 1/5/06). Their next game is away to Warrenpoint on Monday 8 th May.

Ballyvarley seniors won last week against Portaferry with close to a full strength side. They hurled well from start to finish with two points the margin of victory. Their next game is at home to Newry Shamrocks on Tuesday 2nd   May (throw in at 7 pm), followed by another home game on Tuesday 9 th   May against Ballycran.

This Cul Camp will cater for Hurling as well as Gaelic football if enough interest is shown. If you are a member of the club and you would be interested in attending the hurling on these dates, please contact Aidan Hegarty (07813713707) for further information and forms.

If you have any stories or information relating to Portaferry that you would
like to appear on this website please email them to: website@down.gaa.ie
