Ballyvarley Notes - 01st August 2006
Ballyvarley Hurling Notes
Ballyvarley hurlers are back in
action after the July break. Last
week was a busy week for the
juvenile and senior hurlers.
Under 14
hurling training restarted for the
Reds with Down County Hurling
Officer John
Crossey taking a coaching
session. Over 18 hurlers turned out
and enjoyed the session as John
passed on his wealth of knowledge to
the young hurlers. This was good
preparation for the under 14s before
their next league game on Wednesday
2nd August away to
Liatroim.
The
minor Ballyvarley/Ballela team
entertained
Portaferry last week and
despite a depleted side due to
injuries and holidays the locals
narrowly lost to a strong
Portaferry
side. The minors play their last
game of the minor league this
Thursday travelling to the
Ards to
face an unbeaten
Ballycran
side.
After their great win
against Warrenpoint, Ballyvarley’s
under 16s face an away trip to
Castlewellan
on Friday 4th August, and
then have a weeks break before
facing
Carryduff away on Friday 18th
August.
The
under 12s now train on Fridays from
7.15pm to 8.30pm at
Newbridge
Integrated College,
Loughbrickland.
The
senior hurlers now have a weeks
break before playing either
Warrenpoint or
Clonduff in the league on
Tuesday 8th August. The
Ballyvarley seniors continue to
train every Sunday at
12.15pm with a big effort asked for
from all the players as they prepare
for their Championship semi-final in
early September.
Tracksuits for Juvenile and senior
players are now in. All those who
ordered a tracksuit are asked to
contact their team manager or Martin
Donnelly to get their tracksuit.
Tracksuits will only be given out on
payment of them. The club has
partially subsidised tracksuits so
Juvenile tracksuits (tops and
bottoms) cost £30 with senior
tracksuits costing £42.
