Ballyvarley Hurling Notes - 10th Sept 2006

There has been a change of date for Ballyvarley senior hurlers championship match against Portaferry. It will now take place on Saturday 16^th September in Kilclief. The throw in is at 5pm. The curtain raiser to this game will be the Intermediate Championship match between Liatroim and Portaferry at 2.30pm. All support welcome to spur the lads on.

David McGovern represented the club on Sunday on the South Down team playing in the Down Senior Hurling Championship Semi-final against Ballycran.

Congratulations to the under 14 Hurlers who have now reached the Under 14 Hurling Shield final. They will face Castlewellan in a few weeks time.

Ballyvarley had two players on the Under 14 Down Academy team that played Ballycran in the Championship at the weekend. Christopher Martin at right half-back and Tony Hegarty at left half forward played extremely well, yet the Down Academy team lost narrowly.

Ballyvarley under16 hurlers face Warrenpoint in the Under 16 Championship on Saturday 23^rd September in Warrenpoint. Time of the match is still to be confirmed.

The under 10 and 12s continue to train on Fridays from 7.15pm to 8.30pm at Newbridge Integrated College, Loughbrickland. The under 12s got all the points from Newry Shamrocks on Saturday.
