were well beaten at the hands of a physically
strong Clonduff side. The visitors put
pressure on the Ballyvarley defence
right from the throw in and notched
up 2-1 before the reds got of the mark
with a point through a Jonathan Lennon

of the net but the reds could not prevent
Clonduffs reply opening the margin leaving
the home side trailing at the break.

When play resumed the visitors immediately
put pressure on the Ballyvarley defence
but the determination of Ciaron Davis
and James O’Meara reduced the
Clonduff scoring to 2-1 in the second
half. Paedar mc Grath and Sinead O’Meara
also provided the much needed support
at the back with Jonathan Lennon battling
hard at midfield.
Aidan Mc Keirnan added his second goal
for the reds showing all his class and
determination winning possession on

The club was represented by James
McGrath, Colm O’Neill and David
McGovern. It was a thrilling game
with six goals in all. The sides could
not be separated after normal time
and the game went right to the last
minute of extra time before a winner
was decided. All square going into
injury time at the end of the extra
time South Down had a chance to win
it. The miss was punished at the other
end when a disputed free 21 yards
out was converted by the Monaghan
