Senior Hurling
The Ballyvarley senior hurlers
played Ballycran on Tuesday. Missing
a lot of players the seniors hurled
well but were well beaten by a strong
Ards side.
The Senior hurlers have a bye next
week before playing Ballycran at
home on Tuesday 16th June. Throw
in at 7.30pm .
Ballyvarley senior Hurling training
continues every Sunday ( 12.15pm).
Senior Gaelic Football
The Aghaderg senior footballers
played Aughlisnafin on Friday winning
comfortably. The final score was
Aghaderg 5 – 17 Aughlisnafin
0 –7.
The footballers next match is away
to Dromara on Friday 6 th June.
Throw in at 7.30pm . Training is
on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm.
The minors have a bye next week.
Underage Hurling
The under 12 hurlers began their
league campaign with a good win
over Warrenpoint. The score was
Ballyvarley 9-2 Warrenpoint 2-1.
The under 8 hurlers also played
on Saturday and performed well,
unfortunately just losing on a score-line
of Ballyvarley 0-0 Warrenpoint 1-0.
The under 12s play at home against
Clonduff this Saturday.
Ballyvarley Under 8s Battle Well
Ballyvarley Under 8s played Warrenpoint
at Ballyvarley and were unlucky
to loose by a solitary goal.

Underage Camogie
The under 12 camogs lost out to
Dromara on Saturday in the championship
by five goals to no score. The girls
battled hard but were unable to
break down a resolute Dromara backline.
The under 14 Camogs and under 12
Camogs continue to train away.
The under 14 camogs play Bryansford
at home on Tuesday 17 th June.
Hurling/Camogie Coaching
The ability coaching programme
for 7 to 12 year old camogs and
hurlers has commenced with great
attendances and enjoyment had by
all. Anyone interested in learning
the skills of Camogie and Hurling
are invited to these coaching sessions
on Saturday mornings @ 11.00. Coaches
interested in assisting with the
programme would be very welcome.

14 years has commenced and anyone

U14 girls football away to Drumaness
on Sunday 15 th June at 12.30pm

County Hurling
The South Down senior hurlers played
away to Longford on Sunday. Losing
by eight at the break the South
Down hurlers found it hard going
in the second period and the strong
home side ran out worthy winners.
Next game for South Down is in Ballela
on Sunday against Wicklow. Throw
in at 3pm .
The Down minor hurlers played at
Casement on Sunday against Armagh
and won comfortably 8-14 to 3-9.
The club was represented by Paul
O’Neill at right half-forward.
They go through to the Ulster minor
final on Sunday 15 th June.
The Down senior hurlers played
afterwards beating London by three
goals to take their place in the
Ulster Hurling Final on 15 th June.
Club Merchandise
Shorts and socks in club colours
will be available in Ballyvarley
Hall at 12 noon to 1pm every Sunday.
All juvenile and senior players
should be kitted out in club colours.
GAA Cul Camp (The Official Down
GAA Summer Camp)
This year the club will host one
of the summer camps during the week
7 th – 11 th July and all
camogs, footballers and hurlers
between the ages of 5 and 14 are
invited. The cost is £30.00
per child unfortunately there is
no reduction for 2 nd, 3 rd child
etc.
Each day coaching lasts from 10.00
– 2.30 with a 30 minute break
for lunch @ 12.00. Each child will
also receive a Cul Camp Kit i.e.
jersey, shorts, socks and bag.
Qualified coaches from County Down
will be present to teach the skills
of the games.
As there are limited places you
are advised to book early, application
forms are available from team managers
and the club Co-ordinator Aidan
Hegarty.
