County Hurling
The South Down Minor Hurling team played
Donegal at the weekend in the Ulster
Minor Hurling League. Played in Ballymartin
the South Down team were much too strong
for their Donegal counterparts winning
by a large margin. Even though South
Down Minors have one game remaining,
which will be played in a few weeks
time against Tyrone, they have already
won their league. Congratulations go
from the club to them.
The South Down Senior
squad entertained Fermanagh in a crunch
game in Division Four of the National
Hurling League at the weekend. Played
in Ballela the South Down side won convincingly
on a score-line of 6-19 to 0-8, against
a team that topped the league before
the game and having won their previous
three games well. Ballyvarley’s
James McGrath impressed throughout with
an excellent display at right half-back.
This Sunday the South Down team play
their last league game away to Leitrim.
