ACFL Div 2: Annaclone
1-09 Clann Na Banna 1-09
Annaclone
1-09 Clanna Banna 1-09
Annaclone
and neighbours Clanna Banna shared the
points on Monday night in Annaclone.
It was the home team that opened the
scoring through Martin Farrell and Colm
Fegan added a free shortly after. The
Banbridge men replied with a well taken
point from Michael Fairburn but Colm
Fegan cancelled it out with free before
two points from Gerald Fegan stretched
their lead. Clanna Banna responded with
a good spell of play and points from
Rory Gillan and Rory Hill closed the
gap to two points coming up to half
time but Annaclone rallied and points
from Colm Fegan and Martin Farrell stretched
the lead before the break.
The
second half began with a bang; firstly
the Bann went straight up the field
from the throw in and grabbed a goal
through ….. McGrath and almost
immediately after Colm Fegan made a
great catch and laid off to Gerald Fegan,
who finished to the net well. The rest
of the game failed to live up to the
start and it was Clanna Banna who came
out on top through out. A Martin Farrell
sideline ball gave Annaclone their only
score for most of the half and gradually
the Bann ate away at their lead until
…. McGrath levelled the game in
the last 5 minutes.
Annaclone
looked dead and buried when Rory Gillan
knocked over the score of the game to
Banbridge in front for the first time
in the game. Colm Fegan stepped up with
a free late on to equalise it and that
was the way if finished.
Both
sides could argue they should off won
the game but the draw was the fair result
over all. Annaclone now face a tough
away game to league leaders Saval on
Friday night (throw in 7.45).
