Annaclone 2-09
Loughinisland 0-10
Annaclone’s reserves got a well fought
victory at home to Loughinisland on
Sunday. Annaclone welcomed back Mark
McNeill and exile Kevin Doyle, fresh
from his London Marathon exploits, for
his first game in over 2 years. With the
bare minimum in numbers, Annaclone
seemed a bit wary in the first half and
silly mistakes gave the visitors a 7-3
lead at half time. Manager Terry Farrell
made a few positional changes at half
time, and Annaclone seemed to come out
revitalized. They cut the lead down to a
single point with 10 minutes on the
clock. Gerald Fegan got his fist to a
Michael Wallace ’45’ and put Annaclone
ahead, and there they stayed. The
defence, lead by Captain Kevin McNeill
and veteran Noel Byrne, held tight and
Michael Wallace finished the game off
with a rifled shot to the net.
There were great performances in the
second half throughout the team; Gerald
Farrell, Ronan McConville and Edward
McClorey held the line well at the back,
while Kieran McGrath put in a great
performance at midfield, proving that
good match preparation always pays off,
Tony Tumilty and Gareth Greenan worked
hard throughout, while up front Gerald
Fegan was ably assisted by Jonathan and
Paraic McNeill. Paul Byrne came on after
returning from the senior sevens and
helped push Annaclone in front.
