Annaclone Notes
17th May - South Down Sevens
South Down sevens
Annaclone seniors went to Derrylecka for
the Feis Sevens on Sunday and came home
with the trophy. Clonduff were disposed
off in the first game and Ballymartin
suffered the same fate in the second
game. The semi-finals threw up Rostrevor
and another fine performance saw the
‘clone advance to the final against
Attical. The team looked extremely tired
by this stage and with two less games
under their belt Attical looked clear
favourites. Annaclone dug deep and with
time running out the scores were level
until Martin McAleenan stepped up with a
captain’s score to win by the bare
minimum. The management team of Cathal
Murray and Michael Farrell had
highlighted the tournament as a priority
this year and the team thoroughly
prepared for it and always believed they
were there to win it.
Panel: Brian McGivern, Gary McArdle, C
McConville, T Pyers, M McAleenan, B
McArdle, C Farrell, G Byrne, Paul Byrne
& M Farrell
