Minor
Camogie - Darraghcross v An Ríocht 1st round championship - 07/09/03
The An Ríocht girls got off to a flying start with Michelle Cousins on top form
in full forward, scoring a personal tally of 8:03. Playing the first half into
the bright evening sun in darragcross' home ground never fazed An Ríocht who continued
to keep the sliotar in the oppositions half.
Goals from Roísín O'Reilly
and Suzanne Campbell kept the Kingdom well in front approaching half time. The
Kingdom had a comfortable lead at half time but manager/coach Ben Fox urged the
team to continue the top performance and effort that they were giving.
The sliotar rarely reached the kingdom half back and full back lines but when
it did Joanna Sloan, Kathryn Donnelly, Marie Trainor and Karen Curran cleared
successfully, along with Michelle O'Hanalon who pucked well.
Midfields
Clara Killen, Eilish Mulholland and Lisa Hughes kept the pressure on their fast
markers and sent many good balls in for the forwards.
Emma-Jayne Magee
had and excellent game in half-forward but Michelle Cousins finished with a superb
goal from a very awkward angle.
Although the Kingdom came out of the
match on top they weren't given an east fight. Darraghcross had a limited number
of players to chose from but still produced a fast, skilled team that gave the
kingdom a good match.
The An Ríocht Minor camogie team hope to continue
their top form when they meet Liatroim in the 2nd round of the Championship.

Minor Camogie League
Kilcoo [Home] win
Clonduff [Away] lose
Newry given points
Longstone
[Home] win
Ballyholland [Home] draw
Attical [Away] still to play
In the Minor Camogie League An Ríocht had comfortable wins over Longstone and
Kilcoo but unfortunately lost out to Conduff who are currently top of the league.
The Kingdom girls drew with Ballyholland in a match that proved to be brilliant
with both teams giving everything. But a draw was a fair result for both teams
involved.
