An Riocht Under elevens played a friendly in Warrenpoint
on Sunday morning past. Both teams enjoyed a good
share of possession with the point boys making it
show on the scoreboard despite some brilliant saves
by Niall Murnion in the first half and Aidan Mc
Veigh in the second.
An Riocht got better as the game progressed though
Warrenpoint sportingly used several subs in the
second half. Eoghan Phillips at full back, James
Reilly and William Campbell were prominent in defence.
Philip Murnion and Ryan Donnelly tried hard at midfield
on a very long pitch.
In attack James Mc Culla, Andrew Mc Allister and
Gareth O'Neill all pitched in with second half scores
as An Riocht rallied to finish the wrong side of
a 6:1 to 4:2 scoreline.
Our wing backs Ronan Mc Alinden and Ryan White
gave outstanding displays throughout the match intercepting
Warrenpoint passes and setting up An Riocht attacks.
All in all this was an encouraging display and
if the boys put the work in during the winter they
can improve further.
