Reports:
Under 14 Football
An Riocht took part in
the feile peil on Saturday and
lost to Longstone in the semi-final.
Longstone goaled at the start
and it took An Riocht into the
second half to get level. Following
a Michael Spiers catch Darren
Doyle banged in a great goal to
make it 1:4 apiece, Darren our
only scorer, but the ‘Stone
goaled again almost immediately
and further points from Shane
White and Paddy Gartland fell
just short of forcing a draw.
Stephen Corr and Wayne Bowater
were our top players.
Under 14 Camogie
An Riocht won in Kilcoo
thanks to good displays from Briege
Mulholland, Emily Keenan, Orla
Cunningham, Rose Sloan and Cliona
Donnelly.
Under 16 Football
An Riocht won in the
championship in Clonduff with
something to spare. Michael Rodgers,
Joe Cole, Fergal Doyle, Gary Cunningham
and Adrian Arterton were our best
performers.
Under 10 Football
An Riocht and Attical
played two matches on Thursday
past and a good attendance turned
out to cheer on the teams. Declan
Morgan, Daragh Campbell, Liam
Rodgers, Jordan Rooney, Kory Colgan
and Ronan Magee all played well
in the first game while Ethan
Mc Comiskey, Reece White, Daniel
Hardy, Colin Harper and Shane
Cunningham were the pick of the
other match.
Under 12 Football
An Riocht produced a
really good show against Mayobridge
and were unlucky to lose 2:2 to
2:9. Stephan Knox, Ryan White
and Eoghan Phillips had good games
while subs Aidan Donnelly, Mathew
Burden and Jason Sloan all did
well in the second half.
Under 12 Camogie
An Riocht won in Kilcoo
thanks to good play from Leanne
Hanna, Ella Colgan, Amy Mathews,
Shauna Sloan, and Michelle O’
Neill.
Seconds Football
An Riocht drew with Mayobridge
2:13 apiece. The half back line
of Michael Trainor, Martin Graham
and Colin Flanagan; the mid field
pairing of Stephen Flanagan and
Neil Doran; and the score getting
of Paddy Cole, Kevin Flanagan
and Liam Fitzpatrick were the
key elements to this success.
Senior Football
An Riocht recorded back
to back wins with a two point
success over Saval. The visitors
goaled twice in the opening quarter
and it took An Riocht some time
to settle. At the break five points
separated the teams, 0:5 to 2:4.
There were twenty minutes played
in the second half before we drew
level at 0:10 to 2:4 and they
scored their solitary point almost
immediately to regain the lead.
We were not to be denied however
and three unanswered points in
the final five minutes saw us
over the finishing line.
Liam McVeigh and Jim Clarke were
outstanding at the back; Aidan
Flanagan had a magnificent second
half at mid field; and Barry Annett
and Ciaran Walsh bagged the scores
in attack.
Thirds Football
The thirds team scored
their second straight win with
this victory over Glenn at Dunavil.
Thomas Sloan and Wayne Morris
shared the first half scoring
honours though Paddy Cordell almost
stole their thunder with a fierce
shot that flew inches wide of
the top corner.
Half-time substitute Brian Annett
made a big impact after the break
while the score of the match came
near the end when father and son
pair James Cunningham senior and
junior combined to point.
Others to impress were Christopher
Mulligan, Michael and Paddy Murney,
Sean Clarke and Michael Sloan.
