Burren and An
Riocht served up a thrilling Down
SFC first round encounter last
night, with the An Riocht side
coming through by a one point margin
1-13 to 1-12.
In the end it took a massive 55
yards pointed free from Down minor
county star, Martin Clarke to decide
the issue. This was a very
competitive game from start to
finish with the An Riocht side ahead
at the interval by 1-7 to 0-6.
And they looked well on their way to
success when the Burren side had
corner-back Ronan McGovern dismissed
and they ahead by seven points.
However, in the closing minutes the
Burren side showed their true worth,
scoring a goal and four points to
level the game.
Then they were hit by the late
Martin Clarke pointed free which
decided the issue.
