Minors v Rostrevor
The
Minors won the All County Football
League on Wednesday evening, 6th,
in Rostrevor when we beat our
closest rivals by double scores
2:14 to 0:10.
Three frees from Christopher
Killen and one from Declan Ross
had helped us to a four two lead
before Conor Sloan pointed from
play after good work by Johnny
White who soon added another
himself in the sixteenth minute. A
huge score from all of sixty yards
from Conor Walsh and another
Declan Ross free made it eight
points to six at half time.
Rostrevor had a good finish to the
half but some determined defending
from Michael Rodgers, Damian
Sherry and Conor Doyle and some
spectacular high fielding from
Conor Mc Veigh, Conor Walsh and
Fergal Doyle combined to limit
their effectiveness.
Rostrevor were level by the forty
fourth minute at nine all after
Fergal Doyle had earlier extended
our lead. Our response suggested
there was more to come from this
team as Conor Sloan despite
lacking support won possession and
placed Johnny White for an
immediate reply. Then Christopher
Killen began a move deep in our
half before coming back in on the
end of it to put two in it, and
from a free he moved us a goal to
the good. Rostrevor scored their
sixth free in the fiftieth minute
but it proved their last score.
Conor Sloan replied from play then
combined with Gary Cunningham to
create a goal for Darren White
which he took well drilling the
ball under the despairing keeper.
Conor Sloan added the next point
himself after a great Johnny White
pass then combined with
Christopher Killen to free Conor
Walsh who came in at the back post
unopposed to fist the second goal.
