Football
Seconds Football v Mayobridge
The Seconds lost in Mayobridge by
twelve points to a goal and five.
Points from Conor Sloan, Redmond
Cunningham and Brian Sloan kept it
tight at half time but the home
side with a number of seniors on
board pulled away after the break.
Sub Ruairi Doran and Conor Sloan
added further An Riocht points and
Stephen Flanagan flicked home a
late goal. All four subs got a run
out. Adrian Annett, Brian Sloan,
Redmond Cunningham and David
Morgan were the pick on this
occasion. Team: J Mc Burney; A
O’Hanlon, M Rodgers, A Annett; M
Trainor, C Annett, P Sherry; B
Sloan, S Flanagan; D Sherry, K
Flanagan, M Taylor; R Cunningham,
Conor Walsh, C Sloan. Subs D
Morgan, C Mc Veigh, G Cunningham,
R Doran
Seconds Football v Liatroim
The Seconds lost to Liatroim at
Dunavil on Sunday. Despite a dream
start when Declan Ross raced in to
shoot a great goal and some fine
long range points from Fergal
Doyle we only turned around to
face the stiff breeze a goal to
the good, 1:5 to 0:5. Liatroim
struggled for scores themselves on
the restart under great pressure
from Dave Morgan and the Cordells
on the full back line. Declan Ross
picked up lots of ball in a
sweeper role and used it well.
Fergal Doyle was the dominant
midfielder on show but up front we
overcompensated for the wind and
not enough shots were sent in.
Conor Sloan and Kevin Flanagan
battled away but two second half
goals put Liatroim in the
ascendancy and at the finish we
had lost a game we could have won,
2:11 to 1:8. Team J Mc Burney P
Cordell JL Cordell A O’Hanlon M
Trainor S Flanagan G Small B Sloan
F Doyle 0:3 C Sloan G Cunningham R
Doran 0:1 S Clarke K Flanagan 0:2
D Ross 1:2. Sub D Morgan.
Thirds Football v Burren
Burren failed to field on Sunday
evening at Dunavil.
U18 Football v Kilcoo
Clearly ring rusty from having
played only two league games thus
far, An Riocht made heavy weather
of defeating a spirited Kilcoo
team at Dunavil. Three two up we
got the inevitable goal when Conor
Sloan collected a long pass from
Fergal Doyle and holding off
defensive challenges shot low to
the net. At the break we led 1:4
to 0:2. Once Michael Rodgers had
blocked an early goal chance on
the restart, Kilcoo were limited
mostly to frees. Christopher
Killen took some fine points from
play but in general our football
was too individualistic with too
few decent interchanges. However
from probably the best passage of
play Declan Ross and Christopher
Killen combined and David Morgan
blazed a great shot over the bar.
By the finish we were 1:11 to 0:7
winners. Team D Flanagan; C Mc
Veigh, M Rodgers, C Doyle; D
Morgan, D Sherry, JF White; F
Doyle, G Cunningham; C Walsh, C
Killen, C Sloan; L Harper, D Ross,
K Morris. Sub D Doyle.
U14 Football v Mitchels
The U14s had a handy win over
visiting Mitchels on Tuesday past
running up a big score in a very
one sided match and this after the
two teams had drawn a week
earlier.
U12 Football v Bosco
The latest phase of ‘Go Games’
took place on Sunday with Bosco
providing two teams to play ours.
Team ‘A’ Conor, Deaglan, Orla,
Ryan, Steven, Caolan, Michael,
Niall H, Mark, Brendan. Team ‘B’
Niall M, John, Aidan, Declan D,
Declan C, James, Ronan, Tara, John
Paul, Colin, Ciaran.
U10 Football v Longstone
The under tens enjoyed another
good nights football when
Longstone visited Dunavil on
Monday evening. Two games were
played and some of the skill
levels on show were very
impressive, An Riocht had big
games from Paul Francis Doyle,
Shane Fitzpatrick, Stephen Flood,
Niall Harper, Ryan Mathews, Aidan
Sloan and Jordan Rooney. Well done
to everyone.
U8 Football in Clonduff
Michael and Eric took the U8
footballers to the Mc Greevy Cup
competition in Clonduff on
Saturday. We played six games
beating Ballyholland, Shane
O’Neills and Bredagh and losing to
Burren, Clann Eireann, and
eventually Mayobridge in the
Shield quarter final. Team Kevin
Donnelly, Beth Colgan, Ben
Rafferty, Daniel Hardy, Shane
Cunningham, Aidan Sloan, Thomas
Sloan, Conor Small, Liam Rodgers,
Ronan Campbell, Paddy Mc Comiskey,
Mathew Carvill, Connor Clarke and
Eoin Sloan.

referees, the chef and the teams
who participated.
Junior Camogie v Darragh Cross
The Junior Camogs won our first
game defeating Darragh Cross 1:7
to 2:3 at St. Louis grounds on
Wednesday. Joanna Sloan, Clara
Killen, Louise Rodgers, Emma Jayne
Magee, Laura Brennan and Lisa
Hughes were best this week. Really
it was a clearer win than the
final score suggests as Darragh
goaled late on but there was great
excitement as we held out for
eight added minutes at the end for
a memorable one point victory.
Team V Baldwin; C Killen, J Sloan,
L Rodgers; C Cunningham; N
Cunningham, EJ Magee 0:2, L
Brennan 0:1; L Hughes 1:4; M
Fitzpatrick, S Walsh, E Mulholland.
Subs K Mc Veigh S Colgan A Murphy
