Games & Coaching

The Foundation Coaching Course took place over three evenings last week. Well done to all those who completed it. A Foundation qualification is the minimum requirement for anyone involved with an underage team.

The next Games and Coaching sub-committee meeting is on Monday 27th March.

All the games on Sunday were washed out. The Minors beat Mayobridge on Saturday at Dunavil. After a poor first half we rallied after the break and ran out comfortable winners.

Good luck to St. Louis in the MacRory Cup final.

Good luck to our Down U21 players, Aidan, James and Martin, in Saturdays Championship.

Down U17 Development Team trials take place from 10am at the town pitch for the second successive Saturday.

Camogie

There have been good turn outs at the various practices so keep up the good work. Sticks and helmets now available from the Club. Down Minors continue to train in Kilkeel on Thursdays. The Golden Cow Down U13 team practices get underway at Dunavil this wekend. There will be a Camogie meeting on Thursday at 7:30pm to see how the arrangements put in place in January are working out. All interested should attend.

Finance & Social

Membership fees are now due. Supporters as well as players should be paid up members.

The next major fundraiser is the Disco in the Archways on Saturday18th March with Francy C.

Grounds & Development

Thanks to all those who gave their time since Christmas to get the grounds up to standard for the start of the season. The Saturday morning work is now completed.

Executive

The next Executive committee meeting is on Monday 20th March at 7:15pm.

Senior Members Projects

On Friday Lauras ‘film night’ did not take place due to a fault with the amplifier while on Saturday Damian held his fun poker night which proved a good success.

Saturday Club

The Saturday opening for teenagers has proved a relative success and will continue at least until the end of March. The project gives young people somewhere to go at the weekend to play pool, snooker, indoor football, watch football on the big screen, relax, etc. without the presence and temptation of alcoholic drink being on offer.

Indoor Football

The Clubs for Young People u16 & u19 boys events take place on Saturday 25th March, at UUJ.

Arts & Crafts

There will be Easter themed arts & crafts on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Junior Room starting this week.
