Games & Coaching
The next Games and Coaching
sub-committee meeting is at 7:15pm
on Monday 27th March. The
Seniors had two games v.
Castleblaney Faughs and Derrytrasna
Sarsfields. In Monaghan some twenty
seven players participated while the
five Down men and some others were
unavailable. We were fitter but
rusty with handling particularly
poor and the home side had six
points to spare at the finish.
Against the Lurgan side a different
line up took to the field. This was
a most enjoyable game. The visitors
were impressive and we had a few
noteworthy performances ourselves.
Some players are certainly
taking the opportunity to stake
claims for inclusion once the whole
selection process settles.
Sarsfields won with a late second
goal, 2:7 to 1:9. Thanks to those
who helped with the catering. The
PRFL game v Mayobridge will now take
place at 6:45pm on Tuesday 11th
April. Hard Luck to St. Louis in the
MacRory Cup final. Commiserations to
our Down U21 players.
Camogie
There have been good turn outs at
the various practices so keep up the
good work. The Junior players will
meet before practice on Tuesday 28th
March with a view to moving outside
for practice from the following
week. All Junior membership should
be paid by then. Sticks and helmets
now available from the Club. Down
Minors continue to train in Kilkeel
on Thursdays. The Down U13 Youth
Games team practices got underway at
Dunavil last weekend. At the Camogie
meeting on Thursday league details
were released. The Juniors will play
in Division Three with Mayobridge,
Ballycran 3, Kilcoo, Darragh,
Ballela, Newry, Bryansford, Liatroim
3 and Warrenpoint. Their first game
is on Wednesday 3rd May
home to Mayobridge. The U18 are in
with Ballycran, Portaferry and
Longstone. Their first game is on
Wednesday 31st May in
Longstone. The U16 play against
Longstone, Clonduff, Ballyholland,
Warrenpoint and Atticall. Their
first outing will be on Tuesday 20th
June at home to Atticall. The U14
are up against Bryansford, Dromara,
Ballyholland, Clonduff, Longstone
and Atticall. They play at home to
Ballyholland on Tuesday 18th
April in their opening fixture. And
finally the U12 play Newry, Clonduff,
Bryansford and Warrenpoint. They
begin on Saturday 22nd
April in Newry. The next Camogie
committee meeting is on Tuesday 11th
April at 7:45pm. There will be a
basic ‘Foundation Level’ coaching
course held before the matches begin
and for any parent or family member
of a young player who may want to
help, this is the first and
necessary step.
Finance & Social
Membership fees are now due.
Supporters as well as players should
be paid up members. Thanks to all
who supported the St. Patricks
weekend Disco in the Archways. The

Francie C. The next F&S meeting is

Tuesday, 18th April.

Youth Club
The Saturday opening for teenagers
has now finished. The Clubs for
Young People U16 & U19 boys indoor

UUJ. There will be Easter themed
arts & crafts on Tuesdays and
Thursdays in the Junior Room. The
‘All Sorts’ and ‘Art’ projects
continue this week in conjunction
