An Riocht
* Thanks to all who helped
at or attended the fund raising
Disco on Sunday night.
* The U8 footballers hosted
a triangular tournament on
Sunday morning with Glasdrumman
and Atticall teams attending.
* Dunavil hosted two Camogie
Championship Finals on Sunday.
Well done to Bredagh and Clonduff
who won and also to the small
band of workers who turned
out to help and to An Riocht
referee Veronica Baldwin officiating
in her first adult championship
final.
* The Senior footballers played
Kilcoo in the Championship
on Tuesday, enough said, they
saved their worse performance
of the season for the biggest
occasion losing 3-15 to 0-3.
Best wishes to Paul Murney
for a full recovery from injuries
sustained.
* The U18 football game with
Clonduff was a bit of a mismatch.
With five players on holiday
An Riocht simply did not have
the strength in depth to make
a game of it and lost 5-18
to 3-8. Hopefully it will
be closer when these teams
meet at Dunavil. Scorers R
Cunningham 1-4, R Donnelly
2-0, A Rogers 0-1, P Gartland
0-1, D Flanagan 0-1 and P
Allen 0-1
* The U16 football match v
Drumgath took place on Saturday.
It was good to see Ryan White
back in action after his injury
while Anto Rogers and Andy
Magorrian proved a formidable
attacking spearhead. The visitors
won handsomely. Team and scorers
Paddy Gee, C Morgan, C O’Rourke,
A Donnelly, R White 0-4, P
Allen, D Higgins, D Doyle,
K Mathews 0-1, A Rogers 0-1,
R McAlinden, A McVeigh, A
White, A Magorrian 1-1, R
Donnelly 0-4.
* The U14 football match v
Bosco took place in the Town
on Thursday with the visitors
edging a thriller 3-12 to
3-10. There were good displays
from Declan Doyle, Adam White,
Ciaran Cunningham and Ronan
McAlinden.
*An Riocht won the U12 football
match in Saval to claim the
league on Sunday morning.
At half time Saval led 2-2
to 0-5 but An Riocht outscored
them 2-5 to 0-3 in the second
half. South Down secretary
Johnny McConville presented
the Shield after the match.

* The U14 Camogs lost in Portaferry
in the semi final of the Championship.
Orla McAlinden opened the
scoring in the tenth minute
from a free and Charlene White
added a second. Charlene had
replaced Orla Doyle who was
injured. The home team pulled
one back before Nicole Kelly
soloed in for a goal to leave
An Riocht ahead 1-2 to 0-1
at half time. An Riocht were
in determined mood on the
restart with Crystal McLoughlin,
Lauren Cunningham and Maria
Higgins strong in defence
and Noelle Fearon solid at
centre field. When Nicole
dropped another high ball
in Sarah Carvill finished
to the net. Again Portaferry
responded with a point but
An Riocht had chances of their
own in the third quarter but
failed to add to their lead.
When Portaferry forced in
two goals the sides were level
and it got worse as they added
a winning point in injury
time. There is one match left
v Portaferry in the league
playoff. Bredagh did not field
at Dunavil on Tuesday.
* The Junior Camogs beat Longstone
at Dunavil by 1-10 to 0-3
to set up a league decider
v Ballygalget this Wednesday.
* The U16 Camogs battled gamefully
against a talented looking
Ballycran side at Dunavil
on Thursday. Behind to some
spectacular long range points
An Riocht almost forced a
goal from Cheryl Flood just
before the break and did get
one on the restart from Colleen
Fearon. They added a couple
of points to keep the score
manageable which was no more
than they deserved for the
effort put in. Sarah Jane
Harper and Maria Higgins impressed
in the home defence with Colleen
Fearon and Carrie Killen good
around midfield. Up front
Noelle Fearon and Ellie Colgan
did the damage.
* The Senior footballers kept
their league hopes alive with
a win in Saval, 1-18 to 1-8.
The home side scored early
on but squandered two goal
chances which could have given
them an unassailable lead.
Once An Riocht settled they
played some good football
and a Paddy Cole goal filled
them with confidence. At the
break An Riocht led 1-9 to
0-4. Saval goaled on the restart
but showing some rare resolve
three quick points cancelled
that score out and An Riocht
went on to win with plenty
to spare. Team and scorers
