* Can you spare your old, unwanted
all types of clothing, paired
shoes, all household textiles,
bed linens, curtains, towels,
etc. Every bag collected results
in a donation to the Clubs Youth
section. Please help raise funds
for your local club & help
developing communities abroad.
Please leave bags at the Kingdom
Club, 10 Dunavil Road. There is
now a community clothes bin at
Dunavil for all day use.
* Just a few
January foundation camogie and
football course places remaining.
* Scor Sinsear
dates are semi-final on 10th February
and final on 24th February. Anyone
interested in taking part should
see Paul Sherry as soon as possible.
* There will
be consultation meetings between
7th and 24th January regarding
opportunities for young people
to explore ideas they may have
regarding digital photography,
music and DJ projects. Anyone
interested should let us know
immediately as places are sure
to fill up quickly.
* Gerry Carey
will undertake volunteer registration
for the Millennium Volunteers
at the end of January.
* Young Whistlers
referees training course early
in February.
* Rescue Emergency
Course on Saturday 8 March. Names
needed by the start of February,
this will take place possibly
in Kilkeel. Places Limited.
* KYC Senior
Members Training starts late in
January. Names now if aged 14+
and willing to help in the Club.
* Big Deal has
agreed to support Saturday opening
and sports tasters at Dunavil
starting soon.
* No Need for
Speed is a seven session project
including a residential and driving
lessons etc. for 15 young people
due to start immediately.
* A Certificates
presentation has to be arranged
possibly in conjunction with volunteer
registration at the end of the
month.
* Recreational
Olympics run by NMDC from 29 March.
We can become a country and take
part in a parade as well as various
friendly competitions.
* Activities
with JIMS Project will take place
during the spring.
* There is a
girls U16 trip on Friday 18th
January.
* An accredited
baby sitting course is being arranged
for February and March.
* SELB is facilitating
the making of a video to showcase
various Clubs activities. A professional
video maker will spend six hours
at the Club helping young people
make their own video.
* The Y Factor
for two age groups aged 11/13
or 14/18 takes place in February
in Newry Arts Centre so if you
can sing, act, play music, dance
etc. this one is for you.
* There is an
opportunity to hold break dance
& hip hop classes at Dunavil
if enough want it to go ahead.
* A Level Two
NCFE Drugs Awareness course equivalent
to a Grade 2 GCSE will take place
starting February with Lucinda
if there is a demand.
* The Bardic
Education Arts & Media project
present a sensitive issues drama
tour calling locally.
* There will
be a Mural project with Johnny
from Bridge Youth Project for
six young people aged 13 to 16
over six weeks sometimes at Dunavil,
sometimes at Nautilus Centre.
Again you must book your place.
* The Youth Team
Uganda group is busily raising
funds towards their voluntary
work in the summer. Outstanding
draw tickets should be returned
this Sunday, 6th January, at the
latest.
