U18 Football Rostrevor v An
Riocht

Rostrevor on Wednesday at
Petit Park. Brendan Allen
had a great hour in goals
and Michael Spiers scored
a penalty.
Reserve Football Clonduff
v An Riocht
The Thirds footballers won
in Clonduff.
Premier Reserve Bryansford
v An Riocht
The Seconds footballers lost
in Bryansford. Thomas Hughes
broke the ball for Sean McArdle
to goal in the first half
and Conor Cole grabbed a second
half goal as only one score
separated the teams. Further
chances fell to Diarmuid Flanagan
and Sean McArdle but the home
keeper saved the day for them.
Jim Clarke at centre back
led the rally and was well
supported by Sean Clarke,
Conor McVeigh and Daryl Bowater.
Senior Football Ballyholland
v An Riocht
An Riocht led nine points
to eight at the break as both
sides made light of the games
‘starred’ status
with some flowing football.
Paul Murney was making some
great catches at midfield
and Christopher Killen was
in brilliant form kicking
over half his sides scores.
However three goal chances
were spurned. Ballyholland
were not so reticent about
taking their goals and had
the ball in the net three
minutes into the restart,
following up six minutes later
with a second goal to go five
clear. An Riocht never produced
the incisive football of the
first half and after the break
laboured over scores the game
finishing in a 2-11 to 0-12
defeat.
U12 Camogie Liatroim v An
Riocht
The U12 girls lost in the
first round of the Championship
in Liatroim and now play in
the Shield.
U14 Camogie Ballygalget v
An Riocht
An Riocht made the long journey
to the Ards on Tuesday past
minus a couple of the girls
out with sickness. Nicole
Kelly and Orla McAlinden held
the midfield positions well.
Beth Farrell was the first
to opening the scoring five
minutes into the game, quickly
followed by Nicole Kelly,
Sarah Carville, Ellie Hughes
and Tierna Rooney each adding
a goal before Beth added a
further two to her tally and
Orla McAlinden tapped over
a great point. Aoife Mooney
pulled of a number of good
saves, the pick of those being
a high ball in which she did
very well to block down. Ellie
Hughes proved herself up front
while Marie Higgins was solid
in full-back, along with Tara
Bowater. We would all like
to wish Tara a speedy recovery
as she had to be taken to
A&E Daisy Hill as a result
of an injury. Final Score
An Riocht 10-3, Ballygalget
3-1. Team: A. Mooney, M. O’Neill,
M. Higgins, L. Carville, T.
Bowater, O. McAlinden, N.
Kelly, J. Rice, E. Hughes,
C. White, B. Farrell, O. Doyle.
Subs: S. Carvill, C. Connor,
M. McDowell, T. Rooney and
N Cunningham.
U18 Camogie Atticall v An
Riocht
The Minor girls remain unbeaten
after a visit to Atticall.
Niaomh Mulhern opened the
scoring with a goal quickly
followed by points from Christina
Trainor and Laura Donnelly
and Laura added a second goal
ten minutes in. Atticall rallied
with three successive strikes
on target but An Riocht finished
the half on top to lead 2-8
to 0-3. The second half was
much more evenly contested
though scores from Sophie
Colgan ensured An Riocht were
not going to be caught. Team
SJ Harper E Keenan L Rodgers
C Fearon L Brennan M Higgins
N Kelly L Donnelly E Colgan
S Colgan N Mulhern C Trainor.
U18 Camogie Ballyholland v
An Riocht
The busy Minor camogs beat
Ballyholland at Kieran Sands
Park on Friday.
U18 Camogie Sevens An Riocht
v Portaferry
The Minor girls lost in the
Feis sevens Final on Sunday
after extra time.
Junior Camogie Longstone v
An Riocht
An Riocht bounced back from
the disappointment of losing
in Ballygalget to beat Longstone
2-8 to 0-6 on Sunday morning.
Laura Brennan settled the
nerves with an early goal
and though Longstone hit back
with a couple of points, further
scores from Sophie Colgan
(4) helped An Riocht to a
1-6 to 0-3 interval lead.
Longstone put on the pressure
on the restart scoring twice
before a Niaomh Mulhern goal
re-established An Riochts
superiority and Laura Donnelly
capped her sides scoring with
a tremendous late point. Longstone
were not finished however
and forced good saves from
Sarah Jane Harper in the An
Riocht goals and some good
defensive play from Clara
Killen and Marie Trainor.
*Mayobridge were unable to
field in Wednesdays match.
