ADRGLASS
5 Star Ardglass
Ardglass 5-5 Bryansford 0-5
Last years section
B winners made the jump to the top section
and continued their unbeaten run
The game started at a fast pace with
bryansford trying to work a goal opportunity
while Ardglass broke free and Liam mullan
hit the post with the home sides first
attack. Beforehand another goal chance
fly wide before they opened the scoring
with a long range point.Ardglass replied
with a Mick Magee point. This was followed
by a ten minute period of dominance
which resulted in a ciaran dorrian goal
and a fine save from Daniel fitzimmons
but the home side couldn’t convert
any more chances Ardglass were then
reduced to 14-men after Matthew o’shea
was sent to the
line.B’ford pulled one back while
Ardglass reorganised. The home side
then extended their lead with points
from Mick Magee and Liam Mullan .B’ford
pulled one back from close range .Ardglass
responded with their second goal following
a goalmouth scramble which Daniel fitzimons
finished.B’ford tried hard to
make the numerical advantage count but
a dogged Ardglass defence restricted
them to 3 wides and 1 point. In added
time of the first half Mick
magee was awarded a penalty following
good work from Darren Smyth ,which Marty
mc Vickers converted
Half-time Ardglass 3-3 Bryansford 0-4
B’ford upped
the pressure in the second half and
forced Ardglass to get men
behind the ball .The B’ford forwards
wasted chance after chance while under
pressure from the Ardglass defence.
The first score of the half came
following a long pass from Mc Vickers
to full forward Fitzimons who found
Rooney in space and he scored the seaside’s
fourth goal .The ‘ford boys
again tried to break down the home defence
and were trying to pull a few
goals back which only resulted in more
wides .Ardglass’ only relief was
the
the direct ball to the full forward
line. The best score of the game started
with Ardglass’ impressive full
back Jimmy Telford breaking from his
own 21
before releasing the ball to Fitzimmons
and he flicked the ball to Collie
Smyth who side stepped his marker and
floated the ball over the bar
B’ford continued to push for goals
and wasted more chances with Mark
Armstrong making a great save from close
range and Daniel Fleming cleared
another off the line.B’ford scored
their only point of the half with 5
mins
remaining as the home side finished
the stronger
Mick Magee scored his third point after
hitting the post minutes earlier
.Liam Mullan hit a wide before finishing
the game of with a little bit of
individual skill, after dispossessing
the keeper 20 yards out on the by-line
he curled the ball into the net from
a tight angle for Ardglass’ fifth
and
final goal
