Ardglass had a
comprehensive victory over St Patrick’s
at Ardtole on Wednesday night .Ardglass
dominated the match from the beginning

attacks, before St Patrick’s responded
with a 20 yard free. Ardglass corner

with an overhead kick.St Patrick’s then
took the lead for the only time in the
game, scoring a penalty following a
clumsy challenge from Ardglass’
goalkeeper Daniel Fitzsimmons
This was to be St
Patrick’s last score of the half as
Ardglass turned on the style with Mullan
and Rooney adding score after score, a
succession of poor kick outs didn’t help
the visitors as Michael Hart and Marty
McVickers added more scores. Matthew
Rooney scored a great point from 40
yards after a sidestep and dummy which
evaded two defenders. Darren Smyth hit
the crossbar with only the keeper to
beat after being found in space by full

the crossbar, Michael Magee scored a
point from the rebound .Ardglass scored
two more points through Mullan and Hart
before St Patrick’s scored two points
from play, however this was not the
start of a comeback as Matthew O’Shea
fielded the kick out and found mullan
with a cross field pass and after
another 60 yard run Mullan was not to be
denied as he found the back of the net.
St Patrick’s kept
battling and scored a 50 yard free and a
goal before Ardglass added another
couple of points through Rooney and
Collie Smyth. Lee McAvoy scored a point
with his first touch after replacing
Smyth and Rooney added another score to
his tally. Michael Magee scored a goal
from distance after the full back and
keeper both misjudged the flight of the
ball.St Patrick’s added another goal and
a point and Mullan and Magee scored a
point a piece to finish of the scoring
This was an all round
good performance from Ardglass with
sound defensive displays from Seanie
Halpin and Daniel Fleming with Magee and
Mullan dominating midfield, while Matt
Rooney pulled the strings from Centre
forward and Mark Armstrong was an able
target man after converting from
goalkeeper to full forward for the first
time this season
