Ardglass
and Loughinisland Golf Classic 2005
Ardglass and Loughinisland Golf classic
The
club held a Golf Classic in conjunction
with Loughinisland GAC last Friday in
Downpatrick Golf Club .The day was
marred by terrible weather however that
did not deter the enthusiastic golfers
of both clubs who braved the conditions
for 18 holes
The
Handicap competition was won by a four
ball from the Ulster Bank while second
and third places went to teams captained
by Mark Murphy and Jimmy Matthews. The
non handicap competition was won by a
loughinisland team captained by Brendan
Ward and Brendan Mason’s team were in
second place
Well
known Ardglass referee Mickey Curran won
a prize for nearest to the pin, while
some players present commented that he
should be nearer to the play sometimes.
Both
clubs also ran a development Draw in
tandem with the Golf classic and former
Down captain Paddy Mo Doherty was on
hand to draw the winners.

finally to Loughinisland GAC and their

There
is not much Football news this week as
the season draws to a close. The seniors
await their play off fixtures while the
senior ladies face Carryduff this coming
Wednesday evening in Ardtole.
Congratulations to Stephen Rooney on
reaching the under 14 skills competition
semi-final although he was unsuccessful
in his attempt to reach the final the
committee and his coaches were delighted
that he progressed to represent the club
in an all county semi final.
