The seniors
dropped three
out of a
possible four
points as they
slipped out of
the play off
places. Ardglass
travelled to
Teconnaught and
lost after a
very poor
displays all
over the field
the Ardglass
players had no
answer to The
home sides
direct running
style of play,
Teconnaught were
deserved victors
and this was
there second win
over Ardglass
this season.
On Friday night
the seniors once
more travelled
to Newry, this
time to face St
John Bosco,
After a poor
first half which
saw Ardglass
trail by six
points, they
upped their
performance to
overturn the
deficit with the
help of a Barry
Kearney goal.
With minutes
remaining
Ardglass led by
a single point
only for Bosco
to snatch a draw
with a late free
from 40 yards.
Over the two
games Ardglass’
performances
were poor
however Peter
Kelly and Eamon
Mc Evoy were
consistent
throughout,
while the other
members of the
squad were
unavailable
through injury.
Ardglass bowed
out of the
championship at
Ardtole on
Saturday night
to undefeated
league leaders
Carryduff,
however they did
not go down
without a fight.
In the first
half Ardglass
should have made
more of their
scoring
opportunities,
while Carryduff
had no such
problems taking
an early led. In
the second Half
the strength and
power of the
Carryduff
midfield sector
was too much for
the Ardglass
girls however
the battled to
the final
whistle.
Ardglass shot
stopper Ciara
Fitzsimmons was
once again in
great form while
Goal scorer Leah
Milligan and
Cathy Connor
played very well
throughout.
The reserves
lost their first
game of the
season away to
Drumaness on
Sunday evening.
Ardglass
struggled to
convert their
chances
throughout the
game while they
also had trouble
containing the
pace of the home
sides half
forward line,
Drumaness ran
out six point
winners and
Ardglass will
have to regroup
to get their
title chances
back on track.
The under 16s
lost to league
leaders Dromara
at Ardtole on
Tuesday evening,
However they
gave the
visitors a
fright for 45
minutes of the
game only for
Dromara’s
strength and
fitness to tell
in the final
quarter of the
game. Their were
strong
performances
from Philip
Curran and
Christian
O’Connor in
their
unaccustomed
defensive roles,
While Stephen
Rooney and Sean
Paul Thompson
played well from
start to finish
The boys and
girls of the
under 10 squad
headed to Saul
for a four team
Blitz, However
they were the
only team to
arrive along
with hosts. Two
teams took part
in a fine
example of fast
flowing football
for over an
hour.
