Ardglass GAC Notes

Drumaness 4-6 Ardglass 2-13

Ardglass were made to fight for their one point victory in this opening match of the East Down minor league. The first ten minutes saw four goals conceded as Ardglass opened the goal spree with their first attack as Philip Curran punched a loose ball into the net. The home side responded with 3goals and 2points to lead by eight points.

Michael Magee replied with 3 points and Patrick James added another as Ardglass closed the gap. However in the closing minutes of the first half Ardglass had a goal disallowed and Drumaness moved the ball up the field at pace and scored a fourth goal to leave the half time score 4-2 to 1-4.

Ardglass produced a second half comeback with points from Magee, Mc Evoy, James and a Daniel Fitzsimmons goal before Dumaness responded with a 14 yard free. Ardglass hit another four unanswered points to regain the lea d. However Drumaness drew level with two points from long range with minutes remaining. The winning score came from a 30 yard free from the boot of Matthew Rooney as Ardglass earned the first 2 points of the season.

COACHING APPOINTMENT

Paul Lennon has been appointed the new Physical and Fitness coach to the down senior Hurlers. Paul Has been the Ardglass trainer for a number of seasons and will still have a part time role to play with the senior team.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Ladies training has been switched to Tuesdays in the Community centre @ 8pm, All new players from Ardglass and surrounding parishes are welcome

SENIOR FOOTBALL

The senior and reserves will begin training on Wednesday 15th February @ 7pm in Ardtole, a full training schedule can be obtained from Peter O’Shea or Dee Milligan.

JUVENILE TRAINING

Minor training continues on Fridays @ 7pm and under-16s on Mondays @ 6.45 in Ardtole. Under 14 and under 12 schedules will be finalised shortly.

MEMBERSHIP

All membership fees are now due. full member $25, family membership $40 ,Minor membership $15 and Juvenile member $5
