Ardglass won the
Connolly cup for
the third year in
a row after
defeating St
John’s and
Ballykinler in the
opening stages
they progressed to
the final to meet
Division four
table toppers
Bredagh. In a
tense affair
neither side
played free
flowing football
although it was
exciting from
start to finish.
Stephen Deegans
had a terrific
battle at midfield
with paddy Heaney
and the Ardglass
player had the
better of the
contests, while
minor player James
Telford had a
great contest with
former Derry
player Enda
Gormley. Ardglass
eventually won by
four points and
Neill Taggart was
awarded player of
the tournament.
The Ardglass under
14s lost in the Mc
Cashin Shield
final for the
second year in a
row, Once again
Daniel Maginn
showed that he is
a Wee man with a
big heart after
being hauled down
for a penalty he
stood and placed
the ball on the
spot only for the
keeper to make a
great save.
However although
disappointed he
continued to put
in a man of the
match performance
for the remaining
five minutes.
Bredagh eventually
won by a point and
took the Shield
back to South
Belfast. Ardglass
