Results round up
Seniors
The Seniors returned to league action
after the break with a home game against
Clann Na Banna, However after leading
throughout the game Ardglass slipped
to their second successive defeat when
the Banbridge team hit a late goal and
point to ensure the two points. Ardglass
gained the majority of the possession
throughout the game however they failed
to convert many opportunities, and hit
five consecutive wides in the second
half before Clann Na Banna raced up
field to score the decisive goal.
On Friday night Ardglass travelled to
Newry Mitchell’s and returned
home with the two points after a hard
fought encounter. Ardglass took an early
lead and maintained it throughout although
they could’nt pull away from the
Newry men, When they managed to take
a five point led in the second half
Mitchell’s responded with a goal
straight away.
In the closing minutes the score was
level at 13 all, however Stephen Smyth
Converted a free and a sideline ball
while Paul Smyth added one from play
in injury time to ensure the away left
with points.
Senior ladies
The Ladies travelled to St John’s
on Wednesday night and had a comfortable
victory with all the forward line in
fine form, a four goal haul in the second
half ensured victory while Ciara Fitzsimmons
in goal was never in trouble. The Ladies
now await Carryduff in the Championship
in Ardtole this coming Saturday
Reserves
The reserves continued their unbeaten
run in The East Down League after successive
victories over St John’s and Saul.
Both Games were tight encounters as
Player Coach Edward Magee had to take
to the field in both games to add a
little experience to the youthful forward
line.
Under 16s
The under 16s travelled to Second placed
Saul and came away with a well deserved
victory. The game was not played at
great pace although there was some great
periods of play from both teams. Ardglass
wasted a lot of scoring opportunities
however they did enough to fend of a
Saul Comeback with Great displays from
Stephen Moore at Full Back and an energetic
game from Patrick James while Stephen
Rooney hit some wonderful scores from
around 50 yards from play and from frees.
Next game is an Away Championship fixture
against Teconnaught .
