Ardglass 0-16 Darragh
Cross 0-14
Darragh Cross came to
Ardtole on Friday
night on the back of a
ten game unbeaten run
and left with their
first defeat of the
season. The game
started at a fast pace
with Ardglass’ Liam
Mullan recording the
first score of the
game within a minute,
Darragh responded
immediately through
Gary Kennedy before
Marcus Miskelly put
them in front from a
free.
The
next ten minutes a
tense affair with both
sides competing for
every ball, Darragh
scored two points from
frees and one from
play in this period
while Ciaran Dorrian,
Matthew Rooney and
Michael Magee all
scored from play for
Ardglass. Mullan added
a Free to his tally
before Ardglass’
midfield pairing of
Magee and Deegans
began to dominate that
sector and the home
side hit five
unanswered points with
Magee hitting a
sideline ball over the
bar from 45 yards.
Both teams hit several
wides before Paul
Smyth added a point
for Ardglass to give
them a 0-11 to 0-5 led
at the break.
Darragh started the
second half stronger
hitting two wides and
converting a point.
Neill Taggart stroked
over a 50 for the home
side after five
minutes. Once more
both teams exchanged a
series of points with
Stephen Deegans
charging forward from
Half back to score a
well worked point.
In
the final ten minutes
Paul Smyth scored his
second from play and
Chris Deegans added
another after
switching to full
forward. These were to
be Ardglass’ last
scores as Darragh
attempted to fight
back, two points from
play and two frees
narrowed the gap but
Ardglass held out for
a deserved two point
victory.
Ardglass worked
extremely hard for the
victory contesting
every ball in a
disciplined manner.
The full backline of
McVickers, Telford and
McEvoy were solid
throughout while the

the majority of the
games kick outs.
