Finn Ladies Carry Down Flag into Ulster

All roads from Aughlisnafin lead to Brookboro', in Fermanagh, this Saturday as the Down Ladies Junior Champions, Aughlisnafin, take on the Fermanagh champions, Brookboro on at 2.30 p.m. in the quarter final of the Ulster Junior Ladies Football cub championship.

After their historic win against Tullylish the Finn Ladies aim to progress to the Ulster semi-finals. Little is known about their opposition except for the fact that they have been formed within the last five years and they captured the Fermanagh title by beating a highly fancied Enniskillen Gaels by 7 points. An interesting fact is that whilst the Finn play in the Fermanagh colours their opposition Brookboro play in the red and black of Down!

The Finn will look to build on the performance that gained them their first ever Down title and it will once again take a sustained team effort if they are to advance.

Emma Joyce in goals inspires confidence with her safe handling and accurate clearances. The close marking defence which tackles tenaciously and plays as a unit should provide the platform from which the midfielders can supply a potent forward line. Midfielders Nina Cairns and Grainne Mc Cann are capable of holding their own in any company and should gain an ample supply for the hardworking forwards like Claire Mc Shane, Ciara Gibney and goal scorer Michaela Doherty.

Hopes are high and if Gerry Flanagan can once again inspire the self believe in his s they can advance to the last four in Ulster come five o' clock Saturday evening.
