Aughlisnafin were
at home to Dromara on Friday night.
After an evenly matched first half
Dromara pulled away in the second
half to win 3-14 to 0-4. With eight
wides in the first half, five in
the second half plus fine goalkeeping
from the Dromara net minder meant
the Fin did not glean the benefits
of some fine possession football.
With the regular net minder still
out injured Tommy Byrne was put
in to the firing line and coped
well in the first half before being
moved to corner forward in second
half.
Dromara opened the scoring after
12 minutes with 2 points and followed
up with a goal before the Fin replied
with a point from Aidy McDonald.
Dromara came back with a further
two points and the Fin responed
with points from Rory McMullan and
James Brannigan. The Fin were in
the ascendency towards the end of
the half with Marty Burns goal bound
shot well saved. Half time score
was 1-4 to 0-3 in Dromaras favour.
Three wides from the Fin at the
start of the second half were punished
by three points from Dromara, who
then went on to score a further
2 goals and 7 points before Sean
Ladd scored a consolation point
from a 45.
This was the last game in the first
round of fixtures and so the Fin
now know what they are up against
for the rest of the season. There
were some good individual performances
from Marty Quinn, Ben and Sean Willoughby
and Paddy Mooney in defence. Aidy
and Rory McDonald were industrious
in midfield and Kevin Walker, A
O'Hare and Gollum worked hard throughout
in the forward line ( sorry Spud
couldnt resist it ! ).
Training on Monday and Wednesday
nights at 7 pm. Next game is at
home to Ballykinler on Friday night.

The Fin ladies had a useful workout
in a challenge match against Ballymartin.
Playing some very attractive football
in the first half the Fin went into
the half time interval leading by
6 points, with goals coming from
Jolene and Laura Lambe and Erin.
The Fin somehow lost their shape
in the second half after injuries
to Kate, Nuala and Meghan. Emma
Joyce brought off some superlative
saves restricting Ballymartin to
a solitary goal. Final score Aughlisnafin
3-7 Ballymartin 1-17.
Next two matches away to Drumgath
on Sunday 25th May leaving Anssborough
at 6 pm and then away to Teconnaught
