BAILE AILEACH
CUMANN LUTHCHLEAS GAEL
Club Lotto is now a massive
£4050
Saturday night’s draw
was in Doyle’s pub.
John Doyle and Bernard Cosgrave
drew the numbers with a huge
cash jackpot of £4000
up for Grabs. The Numbers
were: 9, 15, 16, and 21. Once
again there was no jackpot
winner and 5 people won £10
by matching 3 numbers. Connor
Branniff, Susan Mc Cusker,
John Quinn, Phillip Mc Keown,
and Allan Reid were the lucky
winners. The anglers rest
won the sellers draw.
This Saturday’s draw
will be in the Anglers Rest
with the numbers drawn by
Barney Mc Cusker and Patsy
Mc Givern. The jackpot has
now went to £4050.

Ballela 3-11 Kilcief 2-07
Ballela played Kilceif on
Tuesday 14th August in Pairc
Na Naomh in torrential rain,
but despite the poor weather
conditions the two teams both
displayed great skill and
passion in a tremendous match.
The game started off frantically
and Ballela started to get
the scores on the board. Indeed
the Final score could have
been a lot worse if the finishing
had of been more accurate
but all who were in attendance
will agree that 3-15 was a
good return for such weather
conditions. Gary Mc Mullan
produced another fine display
in goals.
Noel Burns and Paddy Mc Polin
kept the forwards at bay and
supplied the ball for Danny
Doran and Joe Cosgrave who
in turn once again fed the
in form Johnny Mc Cusker.
Malachy Magee once again covered
every blade of grass on the
pitch and his long range frees
were first class. Daniel Mc
Cusker and Stevie Mc Cusker
ran hard and fought well which
limited the Kilcief scoring
opportunities. Ronan Mc Conville
Andy McGivern played well
in the halfback line with
Mick Doyle, Mark Cosgrave,
Dan Downey and Dan Cosgrave
all playing well in the forwards.
John Rooney was the sub. Ballela
played Bredagh on Sunday in
Darragh Cross in the semi-final
of the Junior Championship
and a match report will be
in next week’s club
news.
This match was a re-arranged
league fixture and will hopefully
provide match sharpness for
the Junior Championship semi-final,
which was played on Sunday.
The young senior team displayed
great commitment and controlled
their temper and passion against
a Kilcief side that tried
to push them all the way,
which inevitably ended up
with Kilcief being reduced
to 14 men and with numerous
others in the referee’s
book. But in the end the class
in hurling prevailed which
saw Ballela win by 1 goal
and 4 points

is a family night and we urge

have. Anyone wishing to contribute
or sponsor a race please contact

Ballela Under 12’s
Ballela Under 12’s
travelled to Castlewellan
after their draw with Carryduff
the previous week and the
young team were full of confidence.
Ballela got off to a perfect
start with Ryan Mc Cusker
scoring a goal. This shook
Castlewellan into action and
they scored 4 without reply
and it could have been a whole
lot more only for some outstanding
saves from Mark Branniff in
the Ballela goals. Ryan Mc
Cusker scored a point for
Ballela before Castlewellan
hit the net again on the stroke
of half time.
HT – CASTLEWELLAN 5-00
BALLELA 1-01
Ballela made a few positional
changes at half time with
Connor Branniff moving to
full forward, Connor Kelly
to full back, Declan Harrison
to midfield and Sean Branniff
to centre half back. The moves
worked as Ryan Mc Cusker and
Sean Mc Parland scored goals
with Castlewellan replying
with a goal and a point. With
ten minutes remaining Ballela
brought on some of heir younger
players: Paul Mc Cusker, Naomh
Mc Crory, Sean Kelly, James
Kelly and Cathal Mc Clure.
With the younger players taking
their markers wide this left
room for Ryan Mc Cusker and
Conor Branniff to run at the
Castlewellan goals.
This tactical move resulted
in two goals and 3 points,
which left the scores, level
at the final whistle.
