Under age Hurling Round Up

Ballela U-12’s played host to Ballyvarley on Saturday. This was once again a very competitive game with Ballela opening the scoring with a Ryan Mc Cusker goal. Ballyvarley replied with 2 points and could have scored a lot more only for some exceptional saves from Mark Branniff.

Ryan Mc Cusker scored a point and this was followed up with a goal from James Mc Parland. Ballyvarley took the lead with 3 successive goals and the half ended with a point for Ballela.

HT – BALLELA 2-02 BALLYBARLEY 3-02

Ballela attacked straight from the start of the 2nd half but left gaps at the back which Ballyvarley took advantage of by scoring 3 goals and 1 point with a solitary point reply from Ballela.

This was a good learning experience for a very young Ballela side, many of whom who had played the previous night in an U-9 encounter against Ballyvarley.

FT – BALLELA 2-03 BALLYVARLEY 6-03

Many thanks to Doral constructions again who are the U-12’s sponsor.

BALLELA TEAM: M. Branniff, C. Branniff, N. Carberry, D. Mc Crory, N. Mc Greevy, R. Mc Cusker, S. Branniff, A. Harrison, R. Harrison, J Mc Parland, N. Mc Crory, P. Mc Cusker, N. Burns, C. Mc Clory.

Ballela U-9’s travelled to Ballyvarley for a friendly on Friday night. The first quarter saw Mark and Connor Branniff scoring a goal each and in the second quarter Connor scored a great point and Paul Mc Cusker finished the quarter with a goal.

Paul then scored his second goal of the game in the 3rd quarter and this was followed by a 3-goal haul from Connor Branniff.  This was a fine team performance and there were debuts for Connor and Aiden Mulgrew, Michael and James Mc Grath, Ciaran Branniff and James Mc Kay.  Thanks to O’Rourke Motors for team sponsorship and to the parents for transport again.

The under 10’s play Ballyvarley at Pairc Na Naomh on Thursday Night at 7.30 pm. Players to be at pitch for 7.
