Ballygalget through
to Ulster Final
Down kingpins Ballygalget progressed
to the Ulster senior club hurling
championship final after eventually
easing past Armagh champs Lamh Dhearg.
The final is fixed for this Sunday
in Casement Park at 3.30 p.m. - against
Atrim champions Cusendall.
In the semi-final
at Casement Park on Sunday October
12, the Keady men gave a decent account
of themselves but it was John Mitchel’s
who came out on the right side of
a 4-13 to 0-12 scoreline.
Goals from full forward
Stephen Clarke either side of the
short whistle had the Ardsmen in control
before two late three-point strikes
from Martin Coulter Jnr. gave the
scoreboard a slightly misleading complexion.
Keady - last year’s
provincial intermediate champions
- gave as good as they got in the
first half and turned around trailing
by just a couple of points, 1-7 to
0-8. But ’Galget’s ability
to find the net proved decisive as
they marched into the Ulster decider.
