Bredagh U12's reach semi final - 12/08/2003

Q-final - Bredagh 9-8 Castlewellan 5-3, August 10th, Cherryvale

Bredagh made it into the last four of the East Down A Championship with a comfortable win over Castlewellan at a sun-drenched Cherryvale. The home side took the game to Castlewellan and with Ruairi Johnston and Decky O'Hara pulling the strings at midfield, Bredagh went ahead 4-7 to 0-3 at half-time.

The half-forward line played some super football, the half-backs got in some great blocks and Donal Hughes got on the end of a seven-man move to score the best point of the half. Things were tighter in the second half, especially when debut 'keeper Daniel Kelly sustained a nasty cut due to glass in the goalmouth. Decky O'Hara was very unlucky when the visitors scored from the penalty spot after he saved the first shot.

However thanks to great defensive work from MVP Jamie Cleary and attacking work from Conor McCloskey, Bredagh regained the initiative and finished with fine goals from Marcus Young to secure a semi-final spot, probably on Sunday 17th August against Carryduff.
