St John's 2-9 v Bredagh
0-8, St John's 6th June 7pm
Bredagh were unlucky away to high
flying St Johns on Friday evening in losing by 7 points.
St Johns who have 16 points from a possible 20 and
only two points behind league leaders Glenn had to
fight to the very end for this win. The visitors were
forced to field without several key players but still
put up a brave performance. In the first half Johnny
Cleary pointed a 45 to add to an earlier free and
John Mc Cullagh saw a fisted effort come off the crossbar.
St Johns added on the points and
a Mal Smith effort left Bredagh in arrears by 3 points
at half-time. The visitors made a good start to the
second half but were knocked back by two soft goals
although keeper Danny Tracey was not at fault for
either, and was sound throughout the hour. Bredagh
plugged away with scores from Cleary(2), Rory Mc Caughey,
Pete Carr and sub Paddy Finnegan. However the Johnnies
showed why they are challenging for promotion and
ran up the insurance points to secure victory by a
flattering 7 points.
