Down football champions Bryansford were dumped out of this year's competition when they lost out 0-11 to 0-7 to Castlewellan on Friday night.

Bryansford ended the match with 13 men after having Colm Kearney and Aidan Shields sent off in the second half.

Castlewellan's Gregory McCartan was also sent off five minutes from time.

Fintan McGreevy top-scored for Castlewellan with five points while 2003 player of the year Shane King could only manage a point for Bryansford.

Action continues in the Harp Lager Down Championship over the weekend.

Loughinisland face Saval at Castlewellan on Saturday evening while there are three games on Sunday with Burren taking on An Riocht, Longstone up against Rostrevor and Mayobridge tackling Clonduff.
