Bryansford Club Notes 7th July 2008

By Fergal Maguire

Bryansford Gaels deeply regret the tragic passing of well respected referee Michael Cole. Michael was always welcome at St Patricks Park and it was indeed only last Wednesday he officiated in our Minor League Fixture v St Johns. To his wife, son and three daughters the Gaels of Bryansford extend our deepest sympathy. Mary Queen of Gaels pray for him.

A Barbecue to be held in the club on Saturday 26th July from 9pm to 1am.
The Family Fun Day is on from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday 27th July. Michael Mc Cartan, who is organising the Family Fun Day, would appreciate support from members and friends in making the Family Fun Day a great success. He is looking for helpers to assist (a) in the organisation and preparation of the individual events and (b) managing the events on the day. Events include penalty shoot-out, Aunt Sally, pillow-fighting, Adult Darts, Bouncy Castle, Skittles, Pony rides etc.
More details will be available on the website and the press shortly.

Bryansford Seniors beat Warrenpoint by nine points on Friday night to consolidate their lead at the top of ACFL Dvision 2
The Minors triumphed over Rostrevor in the Championship by nine points in an exciting game of football played in slippery wet conditions in St. Patrick's Park last Wednesday night.
The Seconds drew with Rostrevor at home on Sunday afternoon. The Seconds only have five games remaining in the League.

Minor match on Wednesday (tonight) against Castlewellan is off due to Holiday Period. The draw for the next round of the Minor Championship will take place on 16th July, while the next round of Minor Championship games will be played on 30th July.

Senior game v Atticall will now be played on Wednesday Night at 7.30pm (9th July).

Holiday Period 11th July to 27th July 2008 – NO FIXTURES SCHEDULED.

Caitrona Rice, club secretary, presents old Bryansford replica stock to club member Niall Fitzpatrick who travels to Zambia on Wednesday to volunteer in schools, orphanages and on building projects. Niall will present the Bryansford gear to a local school upon his arrival in Zambia.
