Carryduff
off to good start with Ballyholland victory - 12/04/03
The Seniors of Carryduff welcomed
Ballyholland to Belfast on Friday evening to play
their first ACFL II fixture of the new season. Ballyholland
made the better start scoring 5 points to the home
sides two Ronan Lawlor frees in reply.
The second half saw a much more entertaining
match as the game opened up more. Carryduff opened
the scoring in the first minute of the half as full
forward Kevin Blaney was brought down and scored the
resulting free himself. More Carryduff scores followed
as the Ballyholland defence began giving away frees.
Ronan Lawlor was in lethal form scoring four further
points to Ballyholland's two to tie the game at 0-07
each. The pivotal moment in the game came when after
a period of Carryduff dominance, a high ball into
the penalty area from Carryduff full back, Michael
Guinness, was dispatched to the net by Tom Scullion.
A further point from a Ronan Lawlor
free gave Carryduff some extra breathing space. Ballyholland
fought back with another three points. Ronan Lawlor
added a free near the end of the game as Carryduff
ran out the winners.
