U-14 (M) 's lose out to Bryansford

The U-14's travelled to Newcastle to take on Bryansford in the first game o= f the second league stage. With Bredagh and RGU Downpatrick also in this se= ction, it is going to be a very hard to league to get through. The top two = teams qualify for the league final.

Carryduff never really got going in the first half and found themselves rat= her fortunate to be only 0-4 to 2-8 down at the break. Carryduff had no ans= wer to the power and pace of the Bryansford midfield pairing. Carryduff mis= sed a penalty in 24th minute and with that any hopes of a revival were gone= .

The management team made 5 changes after the break to try and inject some l= ife into the team and it had the desired effect as the boys scored 1-8 in t= he second half. Unfortunately, the opposition scored 2-4. The final score w= as Bryansford 4-12, Carryduff 1-12.

This was a game that Carryduff could have done so much better in. Poor pass= ing, handling errors and general basic mistakes cost the boys dear and they= will need to win 4 out of the remaining 5 games to stand any chance of mak= ing the league final. The challenge has well and truly been set.

Ardglass Experience Too Much For Senior Ladies

Carryduff v Ardglass 5/6/04

This was a difficult fixture for the young Carryduff side up against the se= asoned league leaders Ardglass. Carryduff started off strongly with Dunnla = Fisher taking a well worked long range point. Ardglass applied pressure and= with strong running and slick passing quickly notched up a number of early= goals. The fullback line of Claire McGoran, Caoimhe McDonald and Antonia O= Kane had to work hard to contain the Ardglass onslaught. Up against it, the= Carryduff ladies battled hard with Suzanne Baxter and Claire Adams doing a= lot of running at midfield while Aine Molloy was forced to drop back to he= lp out. At the interval Ardglass lead 4-6 to Carryduff=92s 3 points.

The second half saw Carryduff up their work-rate and during this half conta= ined the Ardglass ladies to two scores. Overall another good display from t= his novice Carryduff side. Emma Swail had an outstanding second half, Kathy= rn Rooney put in an excellent performance between the posts, Jemma Mulligan= and Susan Irvine tried hard.

Final score Ardglass 5-7 Carryduff 0-5
