The seniors lost their Division III title decider at Downpatrick on Sunday afternoon to Darragh Cross by a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-07.

Carryduff suffered a setback after only five minutes when corner forward Ciaran Conway pulled up with a hamstring problem. His Minor team colleague Conor Gardiner was sent into the fray as a replacement.

Played in blustery conditions the game never was going to be a classic with Carryduff having a slight wind advantage in the first half. It took nine minutes for the first score of the game to be registered, Declan Morgan collecting the ball in the right half forward position dummied past two defenders and slotted the ball over the bar. Chris O'Neill added a second Carryduff score from a free in the twelfth minute.

Darragh Cross came back into the game with more purpose and but for some very bad wides would have taken the advantage. As it was a free and a score from play (18,20) was all they had to show as Ryan Hanna and Chris O'Neill restored the Carryduff lead.

Darragh's luck changed with a free and two scores from play deep into injury time as the referee somehow found it necessary to play seven minutes extra minutes.

Half Time: Crois Darach 0-05 Ceathrú Aodha Dhuibh 0-04

Darragh came charging out of the blocks after half time and aided by a wind that had picked up noticeably over the interval ran riot for the third quarter notching six unanswered points to give them a commanding lead.

Chris O'Neill pulled them back one with a free but Darragh hit back with a further three points. Two more points came from O'Neill frees in the final few minutes of the half but it was to no avail as Darragh Cross ran out the worthy winners and in truth they had been the best team in Division III this year.

Final Score: Crois Darach 0-14 Ceathrú Aodha Dhuibh 0-07
