Under 14 Deverlopment squad lose to
St. Malachy's
This was the first of the challenge matches for the
under 14 development squad and was played at home.
The match was played in three 20 mins segments.
Carryduff looked considerably stronger in the first
third, however they only went in 1 point ahead at the
break (1,2 vesus 1,1)- failing to capitalise on some
good football.
The second third saw St Malachy's come back, scoring
2 goals and a point to Carryduff's 1 goal and a
point. Too many of the Carryduff's shots were
falling in to the arms of the St Mac's keeper who
put in an excellent performance.
The final third saw some Carryduff play to keep in
contention before a number of players simply ran out
of energy and St. Malachy's scored four goals to
Carryduff's single point.
This was the first game together for the squad, and
it showed. A lot more effort is required from some
of the players to bring us back to the level we were
playing at last summer.
More matches will be organised for the development
squad, as well as a rotation of players on to the
main league team.
Training is on Tuesday and there is a home match on
Thursday. See you there.

Brave u12(M)s Defeated By Downpatrick
The u12s lost out to Downpatrick at home on Sunday
evening by 0-05 to 3-03 but ran the visitors much
closer than the scoreline suggests.
A few large Downpatrick players made the difference
as they were able to drive forward through the heart
of the Carryduff defence to take their goals.

Hurling Round Up
The Under 12s opened their league season with a 1
point victory away to Castlewellan. Carryduff were
on top throughout this low scoring game but found it
difficult to convert their chances into scores.
Centre field exchanges were dominated by James
Lavery and Eoin Conway and they helped Carryduff lay
siege to the home defence. That defence held out for
long periods and it was a well taken Rory Mc Kay
goal which finally broke the deadlock. An accurate
point from Eoghan Rodgers added to the Carryduff
tally midway through the second half and it seemed
as though the boys might finally hit the scores that
their pressure deserved. However resolute defending
from the Castlewellan keeper and full back line kept
the visitors at bay and with ten minutes remaining,
Castlewellan broke away and hit their one and only
goal of the game. With just one point between the
teams, the closing stages of the game were tense but
Carryduff held out for a well deserved win.
The under 16s meanwhile had a difficult opening
start to their season. Fielding virtually an entire
Under 15 team, the boys travelled to play a Kilclief
side who were physically stronger in all
departments. Despite this, the Carryduff side showed
great spirit, determination and periods of skilful
play. Kilclief goals either side of halftime put the
game beyond Carryduff's reach but thye kept fighting
to the end with Carryduff's scores coming from man
of the match Conall Early (0-2, Declan Doherty
0-1)and Darragh Brownlee (0-1).
The under 14s open their league campaign this Monday
evening with a tough assignment at home to league
favourites, Bredagh. All players should be at the
pitch at 6.15 p.m.

Scoreless first half undoes U16s (5/4/2005)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The failure to convert at least 3 gilt opportunities
in the first half when playing against the breeze
was a major factor in this defeat. A physically
strong Bredagh side in contrast capitalised on their
opportunities to go in at half time with a 1-6 to no
score lead.
The second half saw Carryduff take the game to
Bredagh but scores form Andy Moorhead and Neil
Magowan were negated by Bredagh.
Neil Magowan capitalised on a goalkeeping error to
cut the lead to six points with a goal after 12
minutes. However despite having the territorial
advantage carryduff were unable to eat further into
the Bredagh lead with points from Moorhead and Ben
Quinn being a poor return.
