| Minors Hold
On For Victory
The minors held on for a narrow one point victory
over Bryansford on Sunday to keep alive their
league title hopes.
In a see-saw game, Carryduff got off to a fantastic
start with Jamie Grant grabbing a couple of goals.
Bryansford came back at the Duff men to level
the game at the interval.
Carryduff extended their lead to nine points
in the second half only for Bryansford to pull
back two goals, including one penalty, late in
the game.
A nervous last few minutes ensued with Carryduff
delighted when the referee confirmed a one point
win.
With Ardglass and Castlewellan both winning there
was no change in the league table. Next week Carryduff
visit Downpatrick with Ardglass and Castlewellan
also meeting.

Mixed Fortunes for Hurlers
The Under 14 and 16 hurlers first challenge outings
of the year produced contrasting results for each
team.
The Under 14s fielded without a number of players
for their home game with Bredagh on Saturday and
were outplayed by the visiting side. The team
had to field with a very inexperienced line up
and all the players are to be commended for showing
a never say die spirit right to the final whistle.
Particular mention should go to the younger members
of the team - Daniel Mc Glinchey, James Lavery,
Eoin Conway, James Rooney, Seamus Mc Cann and
Owen Rogers, who all performed heroically despite
being outside the Under 14 'age bracket'.
The Under 16s had better luck when they travelled
to the Ards to meet a young Portaferry side. In
a close match, Carryduff finished winners by a
three point margin. First half goals from Darragh
Brownlee and Darragh Goodwin and points Declan
Doherty and Liam Morgan had Carryduff in the driving
seat at the break. Portaferry however staged a
second half fight back but a brilliant display
from keeper Chris Heaney kept the Ards side at
bay. Carryduff's sole second half score was another
Darragh Brownlee goal but this was sufficient
to secure victory.
After the game, the boys travelled to Ballycran
to watch All Ireland Champions Cork overcome Down
in the National Hurling League.

Bryansford Beat Reserves By Double Scores
Carryduff Reserves travelled to Bryansford for
their ACPRL II match on Sunday with high hopes
after two good performances in their first two
matches and a full squad of players to choose
from.
Two points down at half-time playing against
the wind, things were looking promising for the
Duff men but indiscipline in the second half gave
Bryansford the victory by a 0-14 to 0-07 margin.
Three Carryduff players were booked by the referee
for talking back even after a free had been awarded
to them.

Kilcoo Too Hot For u12(M)s
The u12s started their East Down league campaign
with a visit from Kilcoo on Sunday evening. Despite
the Carryduff men's best efforts Kilcoo won the
game by 25 points.
While Kilcoo were undoubtedly the better team
the difference between the teams was less that
the 1-01 to 7-8 victory would suggest. Ben Kerry
scored a cracking goal for the home side.
