Carryduff Notes - 01st March 2005

Down Minors Visit Carryduff

The Down Minors played Derry in two pre-league challenge games on Saturday afternoon.

Played in bitterly cold conditions both teams struggled at times to keep the ball but still managed to produce two entertaining games.

Unfortunately Derry came out the winning side in both. Carryduff's Niall McDonald lined out in midfield in the first game.

The u16 Ladies put in a valiant effort in their game against a very skillful Castlewellan side but could not stem the tide against their experienced opposition.

Minors Throw Away Victory

The Minors threw away a six point lead against Castlewellan on Sunday afternoon conceding two awful goals in the last few minute of play.

A Ronan McLaughlin goal helped Carryduff to a 1-06 to 0-02 lead at half-time as Carryduff coasted. The third quarter saw Carryduff maintain their lead only for them to self destruct in the final period with a failure to find colleagues with their passes the chief culprit for Carryduff's demise.

While this result certainly put a dent in Carryduff's title hopes, wins in the remaining games will see them home.

Next up Kilcoo in Kilcoo next Sunday.
