Club Formal - A Great Success

The Club held its 4th La Mon Formal last Saturday evening. Four hundred Club members and friends came along to enjoy another great night of entertainment and to honour the Club finest.

Once again the La Mon provided a service second to none on what was a very important night for the Club and the hotel as it was the opening night of their new extension.

The entertainment was provided by The Chevys who kept the dance floor jumping all night. Thanks from the Executive committee goes to the event organisers Briedge O'Neill, Teresa Love and Catherine Murdock and to Bernie Mulrine who once again arranged the beautiful flowers for the table.

It was also a special night for 'Mister Carryduff' Harry McEvoy who became the first entrant into the Club Hall of Fame.

New Pitch Development Draw Result

Its all over. The final ticket has been sold. You'll not hear "Have you sold your 12 tickets yet?" for another while. The New Pitch Development Draw took place at the Club Formal on Saturday evening.

Just under 6000 tickets were sold throughout the length and breadth of the country and to foreign lands as far as away as Australia and the US.

A fantastic effort was made by so many of our Club members with at least 70% of team members of every team returning 12 or more tickets. 300 families associated with the Club sold tickets, 202 selling at least 12 with 18 families selling over 50 tickets each!

A very close contest was held at the top of the Big Draw leaderboard between Paddy Love and Cormac McCrory. Both men sold over 400 tickets each. Phenomenal! In the end it came down to only 13 tickets as Paddy edged it 418 to 405. Well done Paddy!

The Draw itself made over £26,000. This will provide a big chunk of the estimated £100,000 it will cost to buy the land.

The result saw the prize money stay within the County as all three winners lived in Down.

Congratulations to Club member and former Reserve team selector Tony Smyth who claimed the 1st Prize of £10,000. Well done Tony!

The 2nd Prize was won by a near neighbour. Malachy Higgins, a Bredagh man, walks away with a nice Christmas present of £2000. The 3rd Prize was won by a guest to the pitch. Gareth Burns, from Dromara, bought the ticket at the u20s game against St Mary's (Dromara/Liatroim). Gareth receives £1000.

Thanks to all those who bought or sold tickets and to the people of the Parish and up and down the country who bought tickets.
